About us

a german bar with NORTHWEST SOUL

Rhein Haus Seattle has been serving up brats, beers, and bocce since 2013, right in the heart of Capitol Hill. Originally known as Von Trapp’s, our flagship location transformed a 1940s candy factory into a 10,000-square-foot Bavarian-style beer hall, complete with five indoor bocce courts, an outdoor biergarten, and a cozy fire den. Our space is filled with antique treasures from across Europe, creating a warm, communal atmosphere inspired by the great beer halls of Germany—where people gather, laugh, and make lasting memories.

Our menu is rooted in classic German comfort food, featuring house-made sausages, fresh-baked pretzels, and hearty Bavarian fare—all made in Haus with local, seasonal ingredients when possible. With 24 rotating taps showcasing a mix of European imports and local Northwest brews, we’re proud to be the go-to spot for beer lovers, foodies, and sports fans alike.

Whether you're here for a match, a meal, or a memory, Rhein Haus Seattle is more than just a German restaurant—it’s a gathering place. Over the years, we’ve hosted everything from birthday parties and bocce tournaments to Seahawks watch parties and Oktoberfest celebrations. Locals, visitors, and longtime regulars all have their own Rhein Haus stories, and we’re honored to be part of so many.

Since opening in Seattle, the Rhein Haus family has grown to include locations in Denver and Leavenworth—each one reflecting our shared love of hospitality and regional character. But Seattle will always be where it all began: a place where good food, great drinks, and community come together under one roof.
